What is the Feed in Tariff
If you install an electricity generating technology from a renewable or low carbon source such as Solar PV, the Governments Feed In Tariff Scheme, which was introduced in April 2010, could mean that you receive money from your energy supplier based on the amount of electricity you generate.
The rates are paid from your energy company based on the KW/H of electricity that you generate from your Solar PV panels. The tariff period is currently 20 years.
As well as saving money on your energy bills and receiving payments from your energy company, you could also receive even further payment for each unit you don’t use and wish to send back to the grid. This is called the Export Tariff.
How Much Could I Earn?
This varies dependent on development rates (adapted every 3 months) and how energy efficient your home is. If your home is rated lower than a band D in energy efficiency you will be eligible for the lower rate, however if your energy efficiency rating is a band A-D then you could be eligible for the higher rate. The current rate for The Feed In Tariff is 13.39p per KWH of electricity produced (this is based on a typical 4kw panel in a property rated a band D or above in energy efficiency.) The total payments could then be anything around £565 a year.
The costs are detailed below based on different energy ratings and sizes of panels.
How Do I Apply For The Feed In Tariff? Before Installing Solar PV Panels, or applying for The Feed In Tariff, we recommend that you contact your chosen energy supplier providing The Feed In Tariff to confirm the specific requirements needed and tariff rates etc. The process from here is pretty simple 1 - Once we have assessed your property and produced an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) we can go straight through to install. 2- Upon completion of the install we can provide you with an MCS certificate, meaning you are registered on the MCS database 3- You will then need to contact your chosen energy supplier and tell them you want to go ahead with The Feed In Tariff. 4- You will be asked to fill in an application form and send the energy company a copy of your MCS certificate and your Energy Performance Certificate. 5- Once you are registered, you can start earning!

I very rarely leave reviews, but on this occasion I felt I just had to.
Quite simply, Tempo ( Doncaster) were brilliant – did exactly as stated on their vans – free boilers. Turned up on time, did a fantastic job fitting my new oil boiler, no hassle, and free. Absolutely brilliant… I’ll spread the word Tempo.
