What is ECO?
ECO basically stands for The Energy Company Obligation. This was a scheme set in place in 2013 in order to reduce energy consumption in properties throughout the UK. The Energy Company Obligation works alongside the Green Deal in order to provide customers support and funding for measures including Cavity Wall Insulation, Loft Insulation and Boiler Funding (Gov.uk)
How is ECO funded?
ECO is funded primarily by the main larger energy suppliers who are obligated by the scheme to provide contracts with local installers and Green Deal providers (such as ourselves) and decide how much they contribute to each measure. This may depend on various factors including the type of property, the occupiers individual circumstances and whether or not any other finance on energy efficient measures are being used.
Energy suppliers are then expected to report on the delivery of their obligation to ensure they are on track to meet their targets.
What Does ECO Involve There are 3 obligations under ECO, The Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation (CERO), Carbon Saving Community Obligation (CSCO) and the Affordable Warmth Obligation. Carbon Emissions Reduction Obligation This aims to provide Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation to homes throughout the UK via potential funding. Carbon Saving Community Obligation This aims to provide funding for Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation measures to households in specific low income areas. Installers and energy companies must also meet their target by installing measures in rural areas too. Affordable Warmth Affordable Warmth hopes to provide heating and insulation measures to customers who live in privately rented properties that receive certain benefits (please see our boiler eligibility page too see if you qualify for funding). Through The Affordable Warm Scheme we aim to support customers with lower incomes who are particularly vulnerable to cold homes.
Choose a time that suits you best and a member of our team will carry out and assessment on your property to see if you are eligible for ECO funding.
For Boilers, you will have to answer some pre qualification questions before we go ahead, but for Cavity and Loft Insulation we can assess your home straight away and then we can apply for funding for you.
Once we have the go ahead with the funding, we can then install the measure into your home and you can start saving!
I very rarely leave reviews, but on this occasion I felt I just had to.
Quite simply, Tempo ( Doncaster) were brilliant – did exactly as stated on their vans – free boilers. Turned up on time, did a fantastic job fitting my new oil boiler, no hassle, and free. Absolutely brilliant… I’ll spread the word Tempo.
