Your boiler may be the single most important item in your home, particularly around winter when you need to keep your home warm and the hot water flowing, so when it comes to maintaining your boiler or buying a boiler replacement, it’s essential to make sure you get it right.
Your boiler is at the heart of your home and is a complicated piece of technology.
As a result new boilers aren’t cheap and boiler prices vary greatly based on the different brands, sizes and types available, length of the boiler warranty and whether you require a gas, LPG or oil boiler. Typically new boiler prices range from close to £1650 all the way to £5,500, so it’s important to get all the facts before you decide to buy a replacement boiler.
However, it is worth noting that boiler installation costs and boiler replacement costs are often compensated by the savings you make thanks to your new, more energy efficient boiler. After all, it is estimated that roughly half of what you spend on energy every year is down to your boiler efficiency. You can find more information on costs and savings
The cost of a new boiler will also depend if you are looking to move the boiler to a new location in the property. For example, moving a boiler from your kitchen and relocating it to a bathroom will require additional labour and material costs to cover the extra work.
What else can affect the cost of a new boiler? If you are wanting to upgrade your radiators and add thermostatic radiator valves will increase the cost, however you will gain from a more energy efficient heating system in your home and have better control on how you use your heating in your home.
Constant developments mean the boilers models that are available change fairly frequently. Keeping up can sometimes feel impossible and knowing what the best boiler brands are on the market can be a challenge.
Heating technology has come a long way in a relatively short space of time, none more so than with boilers. Here’s what you should be considering when buying a new boiler in 2015.

Crucially, only 29% of Vaillant customers said that they had experienced problems with their boiler – the lowest score of any brand. Worcester scored 32%.
A brand to avoid, according to Which?, is Keston. An enormous 79% of the Keston owners said they had experienced problems with their boiler within four years of purchase; while just 47% thought they had made the right choice. Steer clear.
Elsewhere, well-known British brand Potterton faired well, scoring 73% for customer satisfaction, with only 38% of customers reporting teething problems.

If you have gas central heating, your boiler will account for around 60% of your home’s CO2 emissions, according to the Energy Saving Trust. This makes your choice of boiler a key priority if you’re looking to cut your energy bills and carbon footprint.
Why are new boilers more efficient?
Modern boilers are more efficient for several reasons, but their main advantage is that they are all condensing boilers. All well-maintained boilers burn their fuel very efficiently, but they inevitably lose some heat in the hot gases that escape up the flue. A condensing boiler has a bigger heat exchanger, so it recovers more heat, sends cooler gases up the flue and is more efficient.
Sometimes the flue gases get so cool that the water vapour in the gas condenses out (hence the name). When this happens, even more energy is recovered from the condensing vapour, and the efficiency gets higher still.
When replacing your boiler Tempo highly recommend for you to get the best energy and financial savings by following our 5 simple tips
Tempo can help make your home energy efficient, just ask one of our energy experts for help and advice.
If you exchange your old boiler for a newer more energy efficient one you will almost certainly see a saving on your energy bills straight away.
If you currently had a boiler operating at 60% efficiency and opted for a new boiler with 90% efficiency you could expect to save around £237 a year on your gas bill. That will mean that your boiler has paid for itself in just over 7 years.
I very rarely leave reviews, but on this occasion I felt I just had to.
